Eco-Friendly Andrews at new Caravan Club site

07/11/2009

Two ECOflo 380 litre condensing direct fired storage water heaters from Andrewshave been selected to provide an efficient and plentiful supply of hot water for the brand new Caravan Club site in Littlehampton, West Sussex. The 115 pitch site was previously an independent caravan park and a £1.2m development programme was carried out in order to bring it up to The Caravan Club's renowned high quality standards.

The two high efficiency ECOflo units are installed in a plant room within the new Oasis Centre toilet and shower facilities block, where they service a total of 16 showers, 18 wash hand basins and six sinks. The Oasis Centre includes a laundry room, washing up and vegetable preparation area, a parent and baby/toddler bathroom and disabled users' shower room. The hot water is supplied at temperatures ranging from 48°C to 43°C through blenders. As ECOflos mounted on a suitable plinth, installation time was minimised as it was not necessary to wait for building work and for concrete to harden.

Chris Smith, Senior Development Manager at The Caravan Club, was responsible for specifying the mechanical equipment on-site and has selected Andrews' storage water heaters to provide hot water services in numerous Caravan Club sites situated across the country. "The Caravan Club is committed to making their sites as ecofriendly as possible and Andrews' products are some of the best in terms of efficiency and reliability," Chris explained. "The primary demand on the water heating system is for multiple high performance showers and we have found over the years that Andrews unvented storage water heaters, installed close to the point of use, consistently deliver continuous and ample hot water supplies, even at peak times. The ECOflo storage water heaters, being unvented, deliver hot water to shower outlets at mains pressure and are sized accurately to match the hot water usage, maximising efficiency and keeping running costs to a minimum."

ECOflo water heaters offer efficiencies of up to 109% and low NOX emissions. They also incorporate a factory installed Correx Powered Anode System, which is maintenance free, as well as a Vitraglas® lined storage tank, making them robust and hard wearing during the cold winter months when the Littlehampton site is closed and at the peak of the season.

"Another important reason for specifying the Andrews units for The Caravan Club sites is that many site wardens are familiar with them, having used them over a number of years,” Chris continued. "They have found the operation of the water heaters straightforward in terms of maintenance, resetting controls and recognizing faults."

The first Caravan Club site to reap the high efficiency benefits of Andrews condensing storage water heaters was Moreton-in-Marsh, which was refurbished to improve the standard of the toilet/shower facilities. Two Andrews MAXXflo stainless steel condensing units were installed in the new Oasis Centre, providing hot water for 12 showers and 16 wash hand basins. Some years later, six ECOflo water heaters were installed at the £3m New Forest Caravan Club Centenary site, which opened in 2007 to celebrate the Club's 100th anniversary. The New Forest site is one of The Caravan Club's largest sites with a total of 264 pitches, 48 showers and 52 wash hand basins.
