Marie Curie: Our national charity of 2016
In 2016, the employees of Baxi Heating voted Marie Curie as our National Charity for the year for the 3rd year running. A fundraising target of £150,000 has been set and we are looking forward to raising money in all sorts of innovative ways for such a worthwhile cause.
Marie Curie is the UK's leading provider of care to the terminally ill. This care is provided either in the patient's own home or in one of Marie Curie's nine dedicated hospices across the country. They are also a leader in research and invest significantly in finding the best ways to care for people with a terminal illness.
Marie Curie offers all services completely free of charge and therefore the fundraising and donations that they receive are vital. Around 70% of the charity's income is in the form of donations and the remainder is funded by the NHS.
Scafell Pike challenge
Employees of Baxi signed up to take on the ultimate challenge by climbing Scafell Pike on 20th September 2014. At over 3,000 feet, Scafell Pike is the tallest mountain in England. It was a tough challenge to meet the summit and the route that was chosen took us up 11.5 miles of varied and difficult terrain.
